Tan Wei Shu - Under-Performing and Power-Greedy ADUN from Kedah

Unreliable and Sacked
from Kedah Exco for Poor Performance

Tan Wei Shu

PKR's Bakar Arang (Kedah) assemblyman Tan Wei Shu has quit PKR and he said will remain as an independent assemblyman.

He was dropped in the recent state exco reshuffle. PKR leaders said that the Kedah MB dropped Tan from the state exco as his performance was below par. He was replaced as Kedah exco member by Sidam assemblyman Tan Joon Long @ Tan Chow Kang last month.

“He knows why he was dropped but he is not happy as the party agreed with the state government on the matter,” said a party leader, who added that the party had anticipated Tan's move.

PKR leaders said that Tan's decision to quit the party was due to his unhappiness after being dropped as a state exco member.

Speaking to reporters in Parliament, PKR chief Anwar Ibrahim said he was not surprised by Tan's decision. “He started attacking us a few weeks back and now he has picked the time to coincide with the Hulu Selangor by-election to leave,” he said.

PKR’s Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul has denied that he was responsible for the abrupt departure of the Bakar Arang state representative from the party.

The parliamentarian also denied he had conspired with state party leaders to oust Tan as Kedah state exco member. Johari said the political decision to drop Tan a month ago was “taken collectively by state and national leaders.”

It is learnt that Tan and Johari had a ugly spat during the state P KR liaison committee meeting a fortnight ago.

Tan is said to have accused Johari of plotting to oust him from the state cabinet in the PAS-led Kedah government helmed by Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak.

Johari cited Tan's ‘poor performance’ as the main reason for his exit from the state administration.

Tan's departure from the party today leaves PKR with only three state representatives, which include S Manikumar (Bukit Selambau) and Lim Soo Nee (Kulim). All PKR assemblypersons are state executive councillors now.

Akhir kata, berenti lah melalak sana sini wahai Kick.

Billy Payne, Chairman of Augusta National Golf Course is a Hypocrite

Billy Payne
BILLY PAYNE

Billy Payne is a Pain to Golf, and to Tiger Woods

by

Reese Schonfield

William Porter Payne, better known as Billy, the chairman of the Augusta National Golf Course, home of the Masters tournament, seems to think that that entitles him to act as if he were the chairman of the board of the "Masters of the Universe".

In a forty-two second clip, he manages to insult Tiger Woods, himself, and the entire Augusta National Country Club by delivering a condescending sermon to the world's greatest golfer (who happens to be honoring the Masters by making it his first stop on his return to golf and probably increasing the tournament's television audience by 50 percent).

I would not be so offended by this had I not known a woman who traveled with the national golf tour for several years while working for a magazine that covered the sport. After being constantly hit on by many of the "best golfers in the world", watching them take their pleasure with other women -- like sailors with girlfriends at every port (golfers seem to find girlfriends at every course) -- she quit her job and went into another line of work.

The hypocrisy, the pretense, of love and loyalty when wives were around and the womanizing after they left had become too much for her. She felt as if she were an accomplice to their infidelity and she left the tour.

Not to be a hypocrite myself, I remember that in the sixties, when women were just beginning to get good jobs in journalism, we reminded them of what were then called "New York Times rules" -- "what happens west of the Potomac, stays west of the Potomac".

Female reporters who went on the road may have been close friends with the wives of many of the men who were on the road with them, but none of them brought back stories about who was doing what to whom while they were out of town. I think that's a good rule, and I think by and large, we're just as well off not knowing what golfers do when they're on tour.

I do know that several others of the world's best golfers were notorious within the community for indulging themselves whenever they could.

Tiger Woods got caught, and he is paying dearly for it. So is golf, just look at the ratings. The last thing he or golf needs is Payne's pious preaching as he joins in the pretense that great athletes must be saintly in order to merit public adulation.

Rock stars and sports stars are like catnip to groupies, and most of them succumb to temptation.

What Tiger did is a sin he shares with many others, and he has acknowledged it.

He doesn't need the likes of Billy Payne, who profits from his presence, to condemn him for his misdeeds.

Billy Payne is a hypocrite and the other Augusta Golf Course members should call him on it.

Augusta National Golf Club chairman Billy Payne scolded 14-time major champion Tiger Woods on Wednesday for the sex scandal that forced a five-month layoff Woods will end Thursday at the Masters.

On the eve of the 74th Masters, Payne made an unprecedented statement about player conduct, making it clear that Woods will no longer be judged solely by how well he scores in relation to par when his comeback begins Thursday.

"We hope and pray begin his new life in a positive, hopeful and constructive manner," Payne said.

Payne said Woods will be playing for more than just himself this week as his comeback begins from admitted adultery that has seen more than a dozen women claim sexual affairs with the married father of two.

"This year it will not be just for him but for all of us who believe in second chances," Payne said.

Describing Woods as a fallen role model, Payne said he was most saddened that a younger generation lost an idol.

"He disappointed all of us and more importantly our kids and grandkids," said Payne.

"Is there a way forward? I hope so. I believe so."

Payne said Woods forgot that "with fame and fortune comes responsibility" and hopes that Woods remembers in the future that children among his supporters want his autograph but "would settle for his smile".

Payne, who said he had spoken to Woods and that Woods attended the champions dinner on Tuesday, added that he wanted Woods to understand that "life's greatest rewards" come from helping others.

Zulkifli Noordin pressed me for money, says Kulim ADUN/Kedah exco Lim Soo Nee

zULKIFLI NOORDIN

ALOR STAR: Zulkifli Noordin is back in the spotlight, with a Kedah state councillor alleging that the maverick MP asked him for money in the name of a third party during the Altantuya Shaaribu murder trial in 2008.

Lim Soo Nee, the state assemblyman for Kulim, said Zulkifli sent him threatening messages asking for money on March 5 and 6 of that year.

Lim Soo Nee

He said the Kulim-Bandar Baru MP told him PAS needed the money for its campaign in the 2008 general election.

Lim described Zulkifli as someone who would twist facts to suit his convenience.

“He will go to any extreme to satisfy his needs, even to the point of using third parties,” he said.

“I’m exposing this now only because I can no longer sit and watch him dupe the rakyat. I am sure many are easily hoodwinked by him.”

Zulkifli was sacked from PKR last month and now serves as an independent MP. His recent speeches appear to be supportive of the Najib administration. In one of those speeches, he said he was offered a large sum of money to implicate Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor in the murder of Mongolian beauty Altantuya.

Lim said Zulkifli told him during the 2008 election campaign that he was in possession of sensitive evidence relating to Altantuya's murder.

At the time, Zulkifli was the lawyer for Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, one of the suspects in the murder. However, he subsequently withdrew as Azilah’s counsel.

Last March 24, Zulkifli resurrected the Altantuya saga in Parliament when he claimed that a third party had offered him payment in return for implicating Najib and his wife in the murder. He said the amount offered was enough to “shake one's faith”.

In the Altantuya case, Abdul Razak Baginda, an aide and close friend of Najib's, was charged with abetting Azilah and another special operations officer, Sirul Azhar.

Abdul Razak was subsequently acquitted, but the two policemen have been sentenced to death.

Describing Zulkifli's disclosure as a “confession” and a “betrayal of friend and party,” Lim said:
“Zulkifli sent me two text messages during the 12th general election asking for campaign money. He claimed a third party needed the funds. According to my SMS record, he said the PAS machinery needed RM21,000 for the campaign and that PAS would boycott the campaign if the request was not met.

Zulkifli said I only needed to bear part of the cost, which was RM7,000. I did not immediately respond so Zulkifli sent me a second message saying I had angered PAS. He urged me to him to give whatever I could.

After Pakatan Rakyat won the election, I happened to meet the Kulim-Bandar Baru PAS chief, Yaakub Husin. I mentioned the incident to him. He was shocked and denied asking for money for the campaign.

Since then, I have been wondering what Zulkifli needed the money for because there was such urgency in his messages.”
He has challenged Zulkifli to tell the truth or at least resign in the name of truth.

“Better we have a by-election,” he said. “Then we’ll see if the Kulim-Bandar Baru constituents will support him.”

Zulkifli Noordin’s Nose Grows Even Longer

Read here for more

Zulkifli Noordin tries to come across as a mujahideen.

When he raided the Malaysian Bar Council he declared that he is a Muslim first and all others second. He would defend Islam, declared Zulkifli Noordin , to the last drop of his blood.

That is most noble of this mujahideen who dares do things that many PAS members themselves would not dare do. Zulkifli Noordinis above even PAS.

Why, therefore, did PAS NOT take him as their candidate in the last general election?

The answer is very simple, really.

Zulkifli Noordin is a Pathological Liar

PAS cringes each time Zulkifli Noordin speaks at a ceramah. He is always exaggerating and lying, said one PAS leader to a group of opposition supporters in the UK recently.

This PAS leader then offered many examples of what Zulkifli Noordinhad spoken at various ceramah. But when the party did a check none of what Zulkifli Noordin said was true.
  • Zulkifli Noordin claimed to have flown overseas and claimed to have met this person or that person. But when a check was made it was discovered that Zulkifli Noordinhad not even left the country.

And when checks were made with people Zulkifli Noordin was supposed to have met, these people not only had not met him but also did not even know who he is.
That was why PAS did not want Zulkifli Noordin as their candidate in spite of his so-called commitment to Islam and supposedly Islamic credentials.

The word on the ground is that Zulkifli Noordin is too Islamic even for PAS. The truth is Zulkifli Noordin had been bullshitting once too often and each time had been caught spinning a yarn that PAS did not want to touch him with a ten-foot pole.

Zulkifli Noordin penchant for stretching the truth with the aim of wooing the crowd was well known as far back as 1998-1999.
  • Zulkifli Noordin would go round the country to speak at ceramah where he would tell all and sundry about Anwar Ibrahim lying on his deathbed and at the point of death. Umno had poisoned Anwar and he is now dying, said Zulkifli Noordin to the sobbing crowd. The only thing that can now be done is to pray for Anwar’s soul.

Then, the next day, we see Anwar smiling and waving at the crowd as he arrives at court for his trial. But then the kampong folks who followed Zulkifli Noordin’s ceramah the night before were not there in court to see all this. They were still at home wiping their tears after the trauma of Zulkifli Noordin’s ceramah of the previous night.
Now Zulkifli Noordin speaks again and this time about his prediction for the opposition. The part I like most is this:
He laughed when told that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had termed him a principled man for having been brave enough to speak out against his former party, and said: “Well, as I have said repeatedly — the truth will always be the truth and you cannot go wrong when you have the truth on your side.”

Zulkifli Noordin, Be "Orang Jantan" and Ask PM Najib about the Mystery of the Murdered Mongolian Woman, Altantuya

Read here for more

balasubramaniam

By

P. Balasubramaniam

On March 24th, Member of Parliament Zulkifly Noordin claimed he had been instructed to implicate Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor in the murder of the Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu.

The mainstream media picked up on Noordin’s statement, using it in an attempt to paint Altantuya’s murder as part of a conspiracy to undermine Najib Razak’s position as the Deputy Prime Minister and future Prime Minister.

Whatever Noordin says should in no way distract Malaysians from the facts of this case and the pressing need to re-open the investigation into the murdered Mongolian woman.

najib altantuyaFurthermore Noordin is foolish to think that he is somehow in a unique position to make such a daring allegation.

The basic facts of this gruesome murder and conspiracy that are in the public domain already demonstrate a clear link between Najib Razak, his wife, the heinous crime and its subsequent cover-up.

There was no need for him, of all people, to have been chosen as the revealer of all this ignominy. Nor is it reasonable that his services were needed to concoct a false link given how strong the actual links really are.

The only question Noordin should answer today is why he waited so long to divulge information which might have been pertinent to the investigation. If they were factual links of a conspiracy why didn’t he reveal them sooner?

If these links could possibly have exonerated your client, Azilah, from the charge that he faced, are you not duty bound as his attorney to have pursued them to the fullest extent to save Azilah from the cruel fate that he now faces?

Before further confusion arises from Noordin’s grandstanding let me review the established facts of the case and reiterate my willingness to clarify these facts to the Malaysian authorities:

1. Musa Safri is Najib Razak’s aide-de-camp and a superior officer to Azilah and Sirul, who now face capital punishment for the murder of Altantuya.

2. Azilah and Sirul were Najib’s bodyguards at the time of the murder. Najib recently denied this fact once again in an interview in the Economist yet.

3. Musa Safri ordered Azilah and Sirul to help Razak Baginda “solve the problem” with the Mongolian girl.

4. Sirul confessed to having been offered a sum of between RM50,000 to RM100,000 to eliminate Altantuya, or as Sirual described it, “selamatkan”.

5. Sirul, at the end of the trial, said in court… “I am just a black sheep that has to be sacrificed to protect unnamed people who have never been brought to court or questioned”.

6. Razak Baginda and Najib Tun Razak are close associates. Both were intrinsically involved in the purchase of Scorpene submarines and Sukhoi jets for the Malaysian armed forces.

7. Razak Baginda’s company, Perimekar Sdn. Bhd., received substantial commissions for these two deals.

8. Altantuya was Razak Baginda’s mistress at some point in time. Her services as a French and Russian translator were used by Razak Baginda in negotiations for the purchase military hardware.

9. Altantuya had alleged she was owed some commissions for her role in these deals.

10. Najib Tun Razak was the Defence Minister during the period these deals were taking place.

11. Altantuya had travelled to Kuala Lumpur in October 2006 to secure payment of her commissions from Razak Baginda, who had employed my services to keep her away from him.

12. I was called as a witness for the prosecution during the trial of Azilah, Sirul and Razak Baginda and gave evidence in court.

13. I also affirmed a statutory declaration in July 2008 in which, inter alia, further links were established in respect of the relationship between Najib Tun Razak and Altantuya.

14. I retracted this first SD within 18 hours by producing another one, and then went missing with my family immediately thereafter.

15. I have since revealed everything that happened since I released the first SD including evidence of threats, harassment and bribery orchestrated by influential people to ensure my silence.

16. I have identified a number of personalities involved in my removal from Malaysia after I released my first SD and have provided details of payments made to me by these personalities.

17. None of the personalities mentioned by me have denied their involvement in these matters.

18. A police report has been lodged based on my revelations but no police action has been taken to date.

19. A report has also been lodged with the MACC but no action has been taken to date despite my willingness to assist so long as reasonable precautions are taken to ensure my personal safety.

These are simply facts of the case which are known to everyone yet ignored by the courts, the Malaysian authorities and perhaps also YB Zulkifly Noordin.

Furthermore in light of these very public facts and allegations key individuals linked to the crime and cover up have neither refuted nor denied the statements made against them:

1. That I myself had seen a message from Najib on Razak Baginda’s handphone, in the presence of a lawyer, which said…. “Seeing IGP at 11am, everything will be OK…be cool”. This occurred on the morning of Razak Baginda’s arrest for allegedly abetting the murder of Altantuya Sharibu.

2. Raja Petra Kamarudin’s SD stating Rosmah was at the scene of Altantuya’s murder and detonation.

3. That Deepak and Dinesh Jayakishan were representing Rosmah and and/or Najib’s family in seeking to negotiate a ‘deal’ in order to entice me to retract my first SD.

4. That I was subjected to mental pressure by thinly veiled threats against my family, which were made personally by Datuk Nazim Tun Razak (Najib’s Razak’s brother) the day I released my first SD.

5. That Rosmah had invited me for breakfast after I retracted my first SD in order to thank me for doing so.

6. That Deepak organised the application for and securing of passports for my wife and children so that they could leave the country that very same day.

7. That Deepak or Dinesh had organised transportation for me and my family from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore in a van, and thence to Bangkok, Kathmandu, New Delhi and finally Chennai.

8. That Deepak Jayakishan made substantial payments to me to keep me away from Malaysia until Najib Razak became the Prime Minister.

9. My production of copies of various cheques for substantial sums drawn on the accounts of Deepak Jayakishan and Carpet Raya Sdn Bhd in support of my allegations that he had been paid off to leave the country.

10. My identification of the person who was in a blue Proton Saga the day Altantuya was abducted outside Razak Baginda’s house by Sirul and Azilah as one Nasar Safri, Najib’s right hand man.

In October 2009 I recorded an interview in the presence of my lawyer, Americk Sidhu Singh and two other prominent Malaysian attorneys explaining in detail what happened to me after July 3, 2008 when I publicized my first Statutory Declaration. The transcript of this lengthy interview is available online.

I then offered to give a complete statement to the MACC with only one stipulation – that my personal safety be guaranteed. Instead the MACC offered to conduct the interview within the Malaysian High Commission in Singapore, which is virtually identical to conducting the interview inside Bukit Aman itself. Knowing what I have endured for the past 18 months and that witnesses have recently been killed while in MACC custody, the MACC’s offer is foolish and reflects how unwilling they are to take my statement.

Given the interest Zulkifly Noordin has taken in the Altantuya murder mystery I would ask him to raise these important matters with Prime Minister Najib Razak when he sees him next.

Deputy PM Muhyiddin Yassin is AFRAID to be a MALAYSIAN

Read here for more

Muhyiddin Yassin

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, however, said as far as he is concerned it is Malay FIRST.

The Umno deputy president said if he called himself Malaysian first, he would be shunned by his own race.

"How can I say I'm Malaysian first and Malay second?” he asked. “All the Malays would shun me... and it's not proper.”

Earlier today, Lim said Muhyiddin should resign if he is not prepared to declare that in accordance with 1Malaysia goal, he is Malaysian first and Malay second.

However, DAP MP Lim Kit Siang, who declared himself Malaysian first and Chinese second.e.

The three acid tests for Muhyiddin were:
  1. Whether he agrees to the establishment of an opposition-headed Parliamentary Select Committee on 1Malaysia;

  2. Is he prepared to declare that the basis of 1Malaysia is 'ketuanan rakyat' and not 'ketuanan Melayu'; and

  3. Is he prepared to endorse the objective of 1Malaysia as defined by the 1Malaysia Government Transformation Programme (GTP) Roadmap to create a nation where every Malaysian perceives himself or herself as Malaysian first, and by race, religion or region second.

  4. Whether he is prepared to declare that the basis of the Malaysian Constitution is ketuanan rakyat and not ketuanan Melayu?
Lim Kit Siang said,
“Muhyiddin must be a very desperate politician that he had to make such a baseless charge, as I had refuted the allegation that I opposed Article 153 of the Constitution.

Isn’t Muhyiddin’s refusal to make such a declaration the best proof that he does not fully support Najib’s 1Malaysia concept?”

During Ong Tee Keat's tenure, an Umno leader said, MCA behaved more like an opposition within BN, asking for MORE places in public universities for Chinese students, a GREATER QUOTA with regards to scholarships and the Public Service Department and so forth.

UMNO PRESIDENT, NAJIB RAZAK

najib altantuya(June 2007):A Mongolian witness said in court today that murdered Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu had been photographed having a meal with a Malaysian government official named Najib Razak.

Burmaa Oyunchimeg , also known as Amy, told the Shah Alam High Court that Altantuya had shown her the photo when she returned from a trip to France.

It is believed that the government official in the photograph is Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who has close ties with political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda. The latter has been charged with abetting the murder of Altantuya, 28.
Karpal permission.

Lawyer Karpal Singh then proceeded to ask Burmaa on what was depicted in the photograph.

“She (Altantuya) was having a meal with Razak (Baginda), a Malaysian government official and other people,” she replied. Karpal then asked her on the identity of the government official, and she replied: “I remember the name Najib Razak, they had the same name. I thought they were brothers. WHAT OTHER MALAYSIANS ARE SAYING

Read here for more in Malaysiakini
  • I am glad, so very glad that Chua Soi Lek won the presidency. So Umno, remember the saying 'Those who stay in glass houses should not throw stones'? How can you continuously accuse Anwar of having unnatural sex when the leader of your component party has done the same thing? If Prime Minister Najib Razak accommodates a person tainted with adulterous and unnatural sex behaviour (though not sodomy), then it goes to show that the case against Anwar is nothing more than a political persecution.

  • If the majority of MCA members want it that way, who can say no? Let them be, and the results confirmed what type of people MCA members are. I am not at all interested in what they are. To me, they are only relevant to Umno, not to the rakyat. This also confirmed MCA can neither be reformed or changed, just like its big brother.

  • : MCA has decided loud and clear. The delegates have voted against reform and for low moral values. Now it is time for Malaysians to take MCA out of politics for good. We shall vote every MCA candidate out in the next election.

  • The PM himself is tainted with all sorts of scandals and he remains PM, therefore why not CSL. In other words, you ain't see nothing yet.

  • MCA has lost all credibility. Like Umno, both its top leaders are very tainted when compared to Anwar Ibrahim and the obvious choice of the rakyat will be Pakatan and Anwar. We'll see in the Hulu Selangor by-elections what the result will be. The rakyat will deliver the verdict.

  • The election of Chua as MCA president against the wishes of the Chinese community confirms how out of sync the party is with the community. Bad for MCA, good for Pakatan
    .
  • Well, it's time to say goodbye to the PKFZ (Port Klang Free Zone) scandal. It will be buried forever, no more witch hunting and those big fishes will no longer have to live in fear again.

  • This is the worst possible result for MCA and the best for Pakatan. Chua's moral values will once again be under scrutiny. The MCA delegates completely ignored the popular opinion of the rakyat and the party will certainly pay a price for that.

  • What an opportune period for Chew Mei Fun to make life hell for the 'porno star'. All of Malaysia, half of MCA and probably the rest of the world will have a gala time ridiculing Chua, MCA and BN. MCA delegates finally pressed the self destruct button.

  • I suggest Tee Keat should follow the foot steps of former MCA vice-president Chua Jui Meng and join PKR for the sake of coming out from the shackles of BN. The non-voting delegates will definitely vote you in as PKR MP should you stand for the 13th general elections. Your loss this time around could be a blessing in disguise. Good luck to the new captain and crew of the imminent sinking ship.

PAS President Hadi Awang DERAILED Anwar's Sept 16, 2008 Plan to Take Putrajaya

by

Zefry Dahalan

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang played an instrumental role in derailing Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim's plan to take over the federal government on Sept 16, 2008.

This startling revelation comes from a pro-PAS blogger, popularly known as 'Tulang Besi', who wanted the PAS president to apologise to all opposition supporters.

According to Tulang Besi, who operates the 'Malaysia Waves' blog, Hadi was unhappy with the high number of non-Malay MPs from Barisan Nasional in the defection plan.

“When Anwar presented the 30 MPs from Sabah and Sarawak, Hadi realised that the number of non-Malays outnumbered that of the Malays,” he said.

Hadi, he added, was not satisfied with just Muslim MPs, but wanted Malay-Muslim representatives.

In view of this, Tulang Besi said the PAS leader disagreed with Anwar's proposal to form a Pakatan Rakyat government without a Malay-Muslim majority.

Tulang Besi also published excerpts from an interview with Islamic website Ummahonline, where Hadi had stressed on the importance of having a Malay-Muslim majority, saying: “Being Muslim alone is not enough.”

The blogger critcised the PAS president for resorting to racial politics, despite his party championing the Islamic cause.

In order to placate Hadi, Tulang Besi said Anwar had offered the prime minister post to a 'Mr X' who would bring in more Malay-Muslim MPs.

He added,
“By then it was too late. Pak Lah (former premier Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) had already announced that he would resign, so the 'mood' to defect (was no longer there) and BN had used other tactics (to prevent) defections during the time wasted (haggling over the Malay-Muslim issue).

The PAS president conspired in ensuring that the Sept 16 takeover plan collapsed by giving shallow excuses.”
Tulang Besi claimed that Hadi and the pro-Umno faction in PAS did not want Pakatan to form government.

Political observers pointed out that this revelation would further erode PAS' popularity among the non-Malays while Hadi would be seen as being NO different than Umno leaders, who play the race card.

It would also lend a devastating blow to the 'PAS for all' slogan, they added.

PAS' spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has also consistently urged political parties NOT to operate along racial lines.

American Politics: HE FINALLY DID IT!!

Read here for more in USA Today

A jubilant President Obama signed the health care bill into law today, calling its massive expansion of insurance coverage "reforms that generations of Americans have fought for and marched for and hungered to see."

"Today, after almost a century of trying -- today, after over a year of debate -- today, after all the votes have been tallied, health insurance reform becomes law in the United States of America," Obama said at a White House ceremony packed with ecstatic supporters.

The law expands health insurance coverage for some 32 million Americans, in part by preventing insurance companies from denying coverage to people who are sick or have pre-existing conditions.

The new law provides subsidies for some Americans to purchase insurance.

While some aspects of the bill won't go into effect for years, Obama stressed that a "host of desperately needed reforms will take effect right away, this year,"Â particularly the restrictions on insurance companies.

He also spoke of specific individuals who inspired his push for health care -- including his mother, "who argued with insurance companies, even as she battled cancer in her final days."

Obama signed the bill in the East Room, before a crowd that included all 219 House members who voted for final passage of the bill on Sunday. Also in attendance: Vicki Kennedy, the widow of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass., a long-time proponent of a national health care plan.

Later this morning, Obama delivers another health care speech to supporters gathered at the Interior Department.

The president used and handed out 20 ceremonial pens during the signing ceremony that had a party-like atmosphere. Before the president's remarks, smiling members of Democrats snapped pictures of each other some posing in front of the presidential podium.

Before the signing, members shouted out an Obama campaign chant: "Fired up! Ready to Go! Fired up! Ready to Go!"

"Mr. President, I think we've got a happy room here," said Vice President Joe Biden in introducing Obama.

The president and his aides now must sell the plan to Americans who are skeptical of the health care plan. The effort includes a speech Thursday in Iowa City, Iowa.

The president soon moves to the Interior Department to speak before a bunch of supporters.

Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., is calling for repeal of the bill. He said the right approach would be allowing insurance companies to sell policies across state lines, and restricting jury awards in medical malpractice lawsuits. "Government bureaucrats will now dictate the terms of our health care system," DeMint wrote in an op-ed for USA TODAY.

Obama expressed confidence in the bill, saying "the overheated rhetoric" of the health care debate will be overtaken by "the reality of reform." He added that the changes in the law must be put in place carefully.

"We need to get this right," Obama said.

Awang Selamat, Kau Ni Orang Melayu Yang Bodoh dan Biadab

Quote

Itulah punca kemunduran Melayu sabenar.

Awang Selamat marah benar.

Malaysia, a Federation under the UMNO-Led Govt ?? What Rubbish !!!

Read here for more

A federation in name only

by

Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah

(Remarks made at CONVERSATIONS ON THE CONSTITUTION:“Federal–State Relations: Should states be given more power?” sponsored by the Constitutional Law Committee, Bar Council of Malaysia.)

Malaysia was formed in 1963, when the eleven states of the previous Malayan Federation came together with Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore to create the Federation of Malaysia.

Federalism is a system of government in which legislative power is divided between a central or federal legislature and a number of state legislatures. Both levels of government derive their authority from a written Constitution.

Unlike in a unitary state, sovereignty in a federal state is decentralized. Thus the rights of citizens are secured at two levels, federal and state. In Malaysia, Federation was a way to accommodate the different histories and pre-existing sovereignty of the member states of the Federation.

Federalism is a way of dividing and sharing power. In the system envisaged in our Constitution, this division and sharing of power is part of a system of checks and balances meant to protect the rights and freedoms of our citizens. The separation of powers between the judiciary, the legislature and the executive are part of that complex interlocking system.

People often remark at how complex this country is, made up as we are of a patchwork of ethnicities and religions. But we are also complex in our political history. The nine sultanates of peninsular Malaysia, did not suddenly acquire their sovereignty upon the Federation Agreement of 1948.

Instead it is by their voluntary coming together in that agreement that the federal authority was created. Federal sovereignty and authority, although wider than that of the member states, is derived from the prior sovereignty of the states. In the nine sultanates of the peninsula, for example, we had sovereign states before we had a federation, and before the various forms of colonial rule.

The Federation derives it powers by the voluntary and binding agreement of the states, not the other way around. This conviction was well tested in the way the Malayan Union proposal was rejected.

Thus we had an auspicious start as a country, because our political arrangement guaranteed our rights within a system that reflected and protected our cultural and historical diversity. Federalism provides for the right measure of local autonomy. Decision-making, particularly about the allocation of resources, could be made in a way that more closely reflected the interests of people on the ground, that is to say, more efficiently.

This system did was not born overnight. The sovereignty of our member states is hundreds of years old. Our Constitution was established on an 800 year old tradition of constitutional law. These are solid foundations for constitutional democracy. If Malaya were not already a Federation, Sabah and Sarawak would not have come together with us to form Malaysia in 1963. Federation is the only political basis on which Malaysia is a viable political venture.

In present company these facts must seem so well-established that I hope you will forgive me if I come across as stating the obvious. Today we find ourselves in the position of having to state and re-state foundational truths about our country.

As a country we have come unmoored from our foundations in constitutionalism and federalism. We are now, for most intents and purposes, a federation in name only. The central government hands out allocations that belong by right to the states as if these were gifts from on high. State governments are starved of resources, particularly if they are governed by the Opposition. How has this happened?

We have undergone two and a half decades in which, while hard infrastructure has sprung up everywhere, the deep infrastructure of the constitution has suffered great damage. Our federal arrangements provide for a fine balance between state and federal powers which provide multiple levels of assurance for the rights of citizens. That balance has been removed as power has been concentrated in the federal government. Within the federal government that power has come to be centralized in the executive. In the executive, that power is concentrated in the hands of the Prime Minister

This forum addresses the question “should states be given more power?” , but really what needs to be done is to restore the constitutional rights of the states first.

The constitutional rights of the states are clearly violated in the way petroleum profits are being distributed and managed.

The federal government says Kelantan and Terengganu have no right to the “cash payments” agreed between the states and Petronas. These denials have been published in the newspapers and are repeated by official representatives of the government. The full implications of their denial are not trivial. The Federal government’s authority over these resources, as in all other things, is an authority derived from the original sovereignty of the states.

By the Federation Agreement of 1948, the states of the Malayan peninsula came voluntarily into a federation and created a common federal government. As part of that agreement, the Federal government had jurisdiction over waters beyond 3 nautical miles. The states had jurisdiction within 3 nautical miles. Oil had not been discovered in Malaya at the time. Had it been found, however, anything within 3 nautical miles would have belonged in its entirety to the state, and anything beyond that to the federal government.

In 1974, we formed Petronas as a common trust between the federal and state governments for all petroleum found anywhere in Malaysia, onshore or offshore.

We did this by persuading the states governments, one by one, to vest their entire rights and claims to petroleum, onshore or offshore, in perpetuity to Petronas. The federal government did the same.

By design, this obliterated any considerations of whether the oil was found within or beyond 3 or 12 nautical miles. So long as Malaysia had any share in the oil, the profits would be divided between the federal government and the relevant state government according to a simple formula: five percent to each.

That series of vestings was secured through deeds signed according to the Petroleum Development Act. As the founding chairman of Petronas I signed these deeds with each chief minister and with the federal government.

The federal government’s refusal to pay Kelantan, and it’s arbitrary treatment of Terengganu’s oil money – on and off according to whether the state was in Opposition hands—is in violation of a solemn contract, sealed in an Act of Parliament, between the State governments and Petronas.

The federal government is reneging on a contract and in contempt of Parliament. Its attitude to these oil payments is transparently based on one criterion: those states whose legislatures are not controlled by Barisan Nasional are denied payment. This practice punishes citizens for their choice of state government. This is an attack on the right of the people to choose their own government within our system of parliamentary democracy. Oil payments are just one form of selective denial of funds to the states.

Putrajaya behaves as if we are a unitary state and not a federation. Ironically we have become in practice the Malayan Union which an earlier generation resisted and defeated. The autonomy of the states, their rights to development and to the husbandry of their own resources, and the proper role of the rulers and the way in which religion is governed in public life are displaced in favour of increasingly centralized and absolute power.

This is unconstitutional and must be resisted with just as much vigour as we resisted the Malayan Union.

Malaysia is not viable in the long run as a unitary state.

PERKASA says Chinese will take over the country in the next election

by

Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani in The Malaysian Insider

Malay nationalist group Perkasa warns that the Chinese community will use the next general election to take over the country.

Perkasa feels that the last general election weakened the Malays and empowered the Chinese community.

Dr Zubir Harun, director of Perkasa’ economic bureau, who was at the Malay Consultative Council’s (MPM) round-table discussion, said during his presentation that a divided Malay community will empower the other races.

According to delegates at the discussion and documents received by The Malaysian Insider, Perkasa wants the New Economic Policy (NEP) to be the “spirit” of the New Economic Model (NEM).

“Perkasa believes that disunity among the Malays has weakened Umno, causing the non-Malays to be more vocal in their demands. They say that the Chinese are also blackmailing the government to give in to their demands by threatening to vote for Pakatan Rakyat,” said one of the delegates.

Zubir also said that Perkasa is worried that the New Economic Model will have a Chinese agenda. He said,
The Chinese people feel that the next general election is the best opportunity for them to gain power in this country.

"...This is why Chinese NGOs, such as Ziong Dong and Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce, are using this chance to make demands of the government. If their demands are not met, then they will vote Pakatan Rakyat who are willing to give everything to the Chinese,” he elaborated in his presentation.

The Malays have “sacrificed” for the country by allowing “the immigrants” to live in Malaysia.

It must be reminded that the Malay people have sacrificed tremendously since independence with a quid pro quo policy... the Malay race have compromised by allowing foreigners into the country.

The Malays endured hundreds of years of colonization and the result is the migration of foreigners into the country. We were forced to accept this policy."
Zubir also slammed non-Malays and liberal Malays for wanting to rewrite the country’s Constitution and social contract.

Perkasa believes that the NEP is still relevant because it will help the Malay community to counter a market which is dominated by the Chinese.

The Malaysian Insider reported today that the government has decided to incorporate the proposed New Economic Model (NEM) into the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) in June, as fine-tuning and tweaks will go beyond its initial end-March launch.

It was learnt the delay came after feedback from various quarters prompted the government to rework its ideas and proposals that will turn Malaysia into a high-income nation based on innovation and creativity.

Among those with reservations about the NEM are the MPM which yesterday demanded it be based on the 1970s-era New Economic Policy (NEP) and should comply with Article 153 of the Federal Constitution that protect Malay and Bumiputera’s special position.

The economic agenda of MPM and Mukhriz’s mea culpa

by

"Sakmongkol AK47" (Dato' Mohd Ariff Sabri bin Hj Abdul Aziz )

Excerpts:
Read here for more

If someone were to ask me- what do you think of the round table discussion sponsored by the Malay Consultative Council (MCC) I will answer as follows. I did not attend that forum although I did get an invitation to go there.

I was gladly spared the preaching of Ibrahim Ali and the sleep inducing drone of Mukhriz Mahathir. I have read the statements of the gadfly from Pasir Mas- Ibrahim 'Stopa' Ali( he is also known as stopa among his local supporters) and also the bloody hazy but almost sounding meaningful noises from MUkhriz Mahathir.

I suddenly realised this. Between the posturing of Ibrahim Ali and his MCC and the clueless MUkhriz , the whole shebang about fearing or hoping for Malay economic salvation is just hot air and a blatant excuse for some special Malays to make more money. Yes sir- it's all just an excuse for some people to make money and to ensure the way to make money stays there in the NEM.

Ibrahim Ali can continue making money for championing Malay economic interests. He can build more bridges, have money to send people for Haj or Umrah, he can get more land from Menteri Besars etc.

People like MUkhriz Mahathir can also continue making more money fighting the imaginary dragons that are coming after the holy economic interests of the Puteras. If you look at his Fibre Optic business- his is probably the only Malay name of significance there and his brother's Kencana Petroleum or whatever, is just another Chinese moneyed company.

We are fooled people.

Allow me first to elaborate on what I think has become a standard operating procedure by UMNO people and their soul mates outside. Let's start by stating that Ibrahim Ali is UMNO in its worse form. Let's talk about the way they force things in their favour.

When a few churches were burnt to the ground, we didn't see any riotous response. There may be a number of reasons why that is so. Maybe its Christian teachings- I don't know which. Maybe, because PM Najib handled it the way he thinks is the best way- give money to burnt churches. We saw young Christians offering flowers to people in the streets, something strange in a Muslim dominated country.

We did not reach that calamitous level of church burnings, we can already see the different manner of reactions. Any hint at all of some impairment to the much worshipped concept of Malay dominance is likely to result in near mutinous reaction.

It has been a number of months, since PM Najib started dismantling some of what he thinks are impediments to greater competition. He has liberalised some subsectors in the service industry. In one of my articles, I have pointed out that these subsectors are of no consequence to Malay economic interests as Malay participation in those is very minimal to start with. As early as that time, Ibrahim Ali regarded that move as a challenge and threat to Malay economic interest. Inadvertently he was saying- PM Najib isn't Malay enough.

Even then, Malay groups were agitated. UMNO hawks are also seething over the abolishment of a Ministry which was tasked at looking at Malay economic interests. In effect, they were looking at the economic interests of special Bumputeras only. The abolishment of that ministry is therefore sacrilegious.

People like Ibrahim Ali responded the only way he knows best- carry out some form of riotous actions. Go to Penang, herd all those impoverished traders who were impoverished since Gerakan time with collusion from UMNO Penang. Demonstrate here and there. Create anarchy where possible. Cow the government into submission.

So UMNO some in a prized cattle or sow.

If we were to study the statements given by Ibrahim 'Stopa' Ali and the convoluted ideas of Mukhriz Mahathir, we wonder actually what the round table on the NEM is all about.

Ibrahim Ali is at least true to form- he wants the NEM to reflect the dominant and overriding interest of Malays. By Malays he meant the puteras in the Bumi. Hence article 153 should be read into every economic measure taken by the government.

But Mukhriz? We don't know what his message is. No the NEM does not sideline the NEP. Maybe the MPM is misunderstood.

Hello, Minister- the MPM is pressing for more intense affirmative strategies- something you should be criticizing unequivocally as they are rejecting the dismantling of the economy.

MUkhriz is more interested in not offending the MPM as they have a large Malay membership. MUkhriz was careful not to jeopardize a potential support base. So he does what a generic politician will do- hunt with the dogs and run with the hare.

Its time all Malays see the real agenda of the economic measures insisted upon by MPM and the new measures that are waiting to be announced. They are actually two sides of the same coin- the same coin representing an excuse for privileged Malays to make more money.

MCA Crisis: Chua Soi Lek and Liow Tiong Lai are UMNO's Chinese Lap Dogs

Read here for more and here

The leaders of the party's two key factions - deputy president Dr Chua Soi Lek and vice-president Liow Tiong Lai - said i that they will not be attending the meeting.

The boycott by Chua and Liow came hot in the heels of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's decision to give the AGM a miss.

This leaves this Sunday's AGM to be a meeting of delegates aligned to embattled party president Ong.

Last night, Najib's press aide Tengku Sharifuddin Tengku Ahmad confirmed that the prime minister will not officially launch the controversial AGM, which is to kick off on Sunday morning at the MCA headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

Najib's decision is the clearest indication yet that party chief Ong has lost the support of the Umno president.

In an apparent bit to crank up the pressure on MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, the party’s Youth chief Datuk Wee Ka Siong today blasted the decision to continue with tomorrow’s AGM, deeming it illegal.

Wee, in his boycott bid, had already succeeded in tainting his wing’s AGM this morning when the meeting couldn’t be held because the quorum was not met and said he would continue his offensive by abandoning tomorrow’s meet.

He also said the Wanita wing, which survived humiliation in its AGM after 350 delegates turned up, will not be attending Sunday’s AGM as well.

The wing is led by Wee’s ally, Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun who deserted today’s assembly together with her supporters.

Readers's Comments:

Read here in Malaysiakini

Louis:
Ong Tee Keat (OTK) should defend his post. I cannot imagine MCA being led by a 'porn star', and two alleged corrupted guys. If those guys are leaders, they are easier to control by the powers-that-be.

Loyal Malaysian:
Come to think of it, OTK should defend his post. Even though he's expected to lose as he does not have the Umnoputras' blessings to contest, but it will show the puppet master's hand even more.

Lahore San: The mechanism for holding the post in the party is the election by the delegates. Nothing will change despite OTK's attempt to remove CSL (Chua Soi Lek) through his cohorts in the disciplinary committee.

The hypocrisy in him showed when he championed the issue of PKFZ (Port Klang Free Zone). OTK himself is not clean and free from dirt when he accepted favours from the figure at the centre of the PKFZ storm, Tiong King Sing.

Now it is damage control, and he is getting a good dose humility from his advisors (although it is too little, too late). Those who did not agree with him were sacked and removed from their positions (mirroring his treatment of CSL) and his mending of fences has come too late. He ruled by the sword, he will die by it.

Dingy:
OTK doesn't have the support of Umno. He won't stand a chance to be re-elected as MCA president. Ong can do better to fight from outside BN. Join CJM (Chua Jui Meng) and you will be in the cabinet should Pakatan Rakyat take over Putrajaya. The rakyat are will Pakatan. We cannot accept a tainted leader in Najib Razak or CSL.

Abdul Rahman Lim: Unless MCA leaders stand firmly with their bold principles of championing the Chinese Malaysians and not bow to pressures of big bully Umno, they may never see light at the end of the tunnel.

SusahKes:
Ong, if you're really sincere bout this 'MCA not depending on Umno crutches' thing, then do one last thing before you presumably bow out: reveal everything on PKFZ. Joe Public is well aware that there is more to it than meets the eye.

Ong Guan Sin:
Who says Umno has not opened its membership to non-Malays? It has, via its subsidiary called MCA. And many in the thousands joined by default without knowing it themselves. How sad is the state of MCA today.

Zulkifli Noordin Sacked: PKR's Cancer is Finally Removed

PKR Sacks Zulkifli Noordin

Read here for more

PKR sacked its controversial Kulim-Bandar Bharu MP Zulkifli Noordin today in a move to rid the party of a lawmaker who has become a major liability for the Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

It has also urged the outspoken MP to vacate his parliamentary seat as he had won it under a PKR ticket in the March 2008 elections.

The decision was reached this evening when the party’s supreme council made a unanimous decision to endorse the recommendations made by the disciplinary board.

The meeting today was chaired by party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. Her husband, Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the PKR de facto leader was also present along with deputy president Dr Syed Husin Ali.

At a press conference following the supreme council meeting, party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said that the decision to sack Zulkifli was unanimous.

By sacking Zulkifli, the party has opted to cut off the wound which has been left festering for over a year.

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said,
"The Board recommended the sacking on the basis that Zulkifli’s act of lodging a police report against fellow Pakatan Rakyat MP Khalid Samad and speaking out against the party in a TV interview had contravened with Article 27 of the party’s constitution.

Article 27 encompasses disciplinary matters involving following the orders of the party, defending the good name of the party as well as respecting the decisions made by the party. So this is the very basis of the decision to sack him.

However, in view of the severity of his actions, the board decided that this was the best punishment. All factors involving Zulkifli’s actions were taken into consideration and the board has also analysed the merits of his case.

At the end of the day, the most important thing is that the principle of party above self should be placed first.

We acknowledge that by endorsing this sacking, it would mean the PKR has one less MP in the Parliament.

But if this is the price we have to pay to defend the party’s name as well as our over 500,000 members, then we are prepared to do it”

Saifuddin said that the council had also decided to appoint stand-in MPs at all the four parliamentary constituencies where it no longer had its MPs.

Zulkifli Noordin's Sacking - Better Late Than Never

One of the longest running acts of political effrontery in Malaysian public life ended today when Zulkifli Noordin, PKR MP for Kulim Bandar Baru, was booted out of the party by its supreme council.

There must have been a huge sigh of relief among PKR members.

While it lasted, the BN must have enjoyed the spectacle of Zulkifli's brazen taunting of PKR to take action against him, and when it hesitated to do so, the harm that that did to its public image as a party of moderation and consensual wisdom on matters religious.

Until today, a constipated PKR appeared to find it next to impossible to give this affront to its principles and premises the sack after Zulkifli had first invited it to do so by the impudence of his disruptive behaviour at a Bar Council forum to discuss religious conversions in 2008.

At each demonstration of PKR's hesitation to act, Zulkifli added another frisson to his insouciance until his demand that the disciplinary panel sitting in overall judgment of him be entirely composed of Muslims when adjudicating his stand on the 'Allah' issue placed him beyond the beyond.

Sometimes the brazen seek proof of their freedom to disport by exercising a license to go too far, and as fear grows among enforcers, they double and redouble the stakes on the wheel of their impudence. In this way, they make their destruction inevitable.

PKR would have self-destructed if they had allowed Zulkifli's strange ride to continue unabated.

  1. Kita TIDAK undi DIA supaya dia khianati kepercayaan kita.

  2. Kita TIDAK undi DIA supaya dia pecah amanah terhadap kita.

  3. Kita TIDAK undi DIA supaya dia tutoh kayu balak atau heret kayu balak dengan serban.

Tak buat banyak, satu hari sekali pun cukup. Tak boleh jadi dah. Tak larat dah nak dengar buruk kelaku pengkhianat-pengkhianat kepercayaan rakyat ni.

Ahli parlimen Bagan Serai, Mohsin Fadzli Samsuri diberi tempoh tujuh hari untuk mengosongkan kerusinya ataupun menghadapi tindakan dikenakan solat hajat supaya dihukum oleh Allah.

Ahli Majlis Syura Ulama PAS Ahmad Awang berkata pihaknya akan menganjurkan solat hajat selama tujuh hari tujuh malam supaya Mohsin diberikan hukuman setimpal kerana mengkhianati perjuangan.

“Kita beri tempoh tujuh hari supaya beliau letak jawatan.
