PAS Youth chief Suhaizan Kaiat today urged his party leadership to open an "investigation paper" into the entire controversy surrounding the leaked private chat messages of its central committee member (CC) Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki.

Suhaizan asked the PAS leadership to "monitor and give warnings" to any member who makes statements that could lead to "PAS and Pakatan Rakyat breaking up".

He said.

"The appropriate punishment must be meted according to party rules as soon as the guilty party is identified,"

He was referring to the WhatsApp discussion among the PAS central committee members on the Selangor menteri besar issue, in which Zuhdi made several controversial and even racist statements.

A leaked screen capture of the exchange was circulated in the social media on Hari Raya day on Monday, causing an uproar. The message, among others, suggested that PAS teams up with Umno to take the Selangor government, with comments as well on how to silence the complaints of the non-Muslims and return power to the Malays.

Suhaizan reminded all Pakatan leaders "not to lose focus" on the real goal of the coalition, which is to change the government in Malaysia.

Yesterday, Suhaizan said PAS Youth had proposed that PAS bring forward its central committee meeting, slated for Aug 10, in order to settle the Selangor menteri besar controversy.

PAS is the ONLY PARTY within Pakatan that has NOT endorsed PKR's proposal to install its party president, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, to replace Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as Selangor menteri besar.

Despite PAS representatives to the Pakatan meeting having agreed with the PKR decision, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang subsequently announced his backing for Khalid to remain in office.

MEANWHILE.....

PAS VIC PRESIDENT DATUK HUSAM MUSA SAID MOHD ZUHDI MARZUKI MUST TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS RACIST COMMENTS IN WhatsApp Chat Group and NOT Drag PAS in the "Scenario Building"

PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa said PAS research centre operations director Dr Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki should assume full responsibility for a leaked WhatsApp message to party leaders discussing the possibility of the party leaving Pakatan Rakyat.

He said PAS should not be dragged into the “scenario-building” controversy and instead called on Zuhdi to be responsible without the need for its central committee to act against him, given the fallout from the leaked chat.

"The person who leaked the internal chat is also in the wrong but if it was not written that way, this would not have happened," Husam told The Malaysian Insider.

He said that while the proposed scenario was an issue, THE BIGGER BURDEN ON PAS WAS THE RACIST TONE OF THE MESSAGE.

Husam said,

"THIS LATEST REVELATION HAS DESTROYED WHAT PAS HAS BUILT IN THE PAST." adding that he was NOT part of the chat group.

According to Husam, this went against the character of PAS and its president and did not bode well for the relationships it had built with other outside groups.

"During the Terengganu saga involving Datuk Seri Ahmad Said with Barisan Nasional, we took the stand not to influence any Umno assemblyman to join PAS, so this analysis goes against what has been PAS's stand all along," he said, referring to the suggestion in the chat on forging an alliance with Umno.

Husam added that WHAT WAS WORSE WAS THE LANGUAGE USED TO ATTACK OTHER GROUPS THAT HAVE BEEN COOPERATING WITH PAS.

"He (MOHD ZUHDI MARZUKI) has to take full responsibility and NOT implicate PAS in this," he added.

PAS MP FOR TEMERLOH, NASRUDDIN HASSAN TANTAWI, BLAMED THE WHISTLEBLOWER INSTEAD OF ZUHDI FOR THE OFFENSIVE RACIST REMARKS

Meanwhile, PAS central committee member Nasruddin Hassan, who was part of the chat group, has defended Zuhdi, saying the leaked message was only a small portion of the entire chat and not even Zuhdi's personal view.

"The chat was quite long. I copied everything and noted every line of the conversation which used a 12-sized font and it went more than 115 pages on A4 paper.

"The chat was over two days covering 115 pages, but suddenly, that small bit with 11 lines was leaked to paint a bad impression of Dr Zuhdi Marzuki," the Temerloh MP said.

He added that many were under the impression that it was Zuhdi's statement.

"The portion of the chat that was leaked is just one of the many scenarios put forward by Dr Zuhdi when group members were discussing the Selangor MB issue, in that what will happen if PAS leaves Pakatan Rakyat or is forced out of the coalition," he said in a statement.

Nasruddin also criticised the person who leaked the message and challenged the culprit to come forward and reveal the entire conversation if he were brave enough.

"Otherwise, the person is just a coward and a traitor, attacking his friends just to please the warlords outside the party."

A screenshot of the WhatsApp message was leaked over the weekend. Zuhdi had proposed that if PAS left Pakatan and joined forces with Umno, the new pact could still govern Selangor with a simple majority and with Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim remaining as menteri besar.

Zuhdi had also said in the message that should DAP, churches and non-Muslims bring up issues concerning the use of the word “Allah” and the seizure of the Bibles by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department, PAS-Umno would be able to check their complaints.

WELL SAID, DATUK HUSAM MUSA.
