It is reported in the press that Raja Nazrin Shah told Datuk Seri Nizar just before he gave his opening speech at the chaotic Perak State Assembly on 7th May 2009:
"Beta tak mahu masuk campur. [I don't want to get involved in this]. I just want to give my speech, so respect my speech, when I am giving it. You understand that? If you want to work with me in future, you have to respect my speech. Understand? So go and tell them to take their seats."
- Raja Dr Nazrin Shah

Ampun Tuanku. Beribu Ribu Ampun.

Your Highness, you CANNOT deny you are NOT aware or ignorant of what transpired in the Legislative Assembly while you waited to enter the hall to give your speech.

Shouldn' t Your Highness not proceed to give your speech after such display of total disregard for and violation of the sanctity of the State Legislative Assembly especially with the uninvited presence of the police taking over the Assembly? Instead, Your Highness had given grace to a mob-run Legislative Assembly. And that, in our humble view, was a bad decision you chose.

No, Your Highness, the very fact you continued to grace the Assembly means you are ALREADY involved, and in the eyes of Malaysians, a party to the crisis/fiasco in Perak.

Ampun Tuanku.

The assembly was consented by the palace, (which) saw the removal of Sivakumar. Sivakumar was then detained inside a room for one hour after he was dragged out of the chambers by policemen at the instruction of R. Ganesan.

The election of MIC's R. Ganesan as the Speaker by BN representatives was convened in a SEPARATE session WITHIN the assembly BEFORE Your Highness officially declared open the sitting.

Too late !

It was way TOO late - for the Regent of Perak to say that he did not want any part in the fracas in the state assembly.

What happened on May 7 did not materialise out of nowhere. It did not happen in a vacuum.

The tug-of-war for power in Perak was a natural consequence of a REFUSAL by the Sultan of Perak to dissolve the assembly and allow Perakians to decide who should represent them.

Respect has to be EARNED , EVEN if you are next in line to the throne.

Admonishing the very lawmakers who many Malaysians feel are the victims in this saga is NOT a GOOD start.

Sivakumar says he is still the Speaker

Ousted Perak Assembly Speaker V. Sivakumar, the man at the heart of yesterday's chaotic state legislative sitting here, maintained today the controversial session of the state assembly was never convened, and that he still holds office.

Sivakumar said,
When a decision has been made by the Rights and Privileges Committee I am also legally bound to it.

From 9.45 in the morning until I was dragged out, I hold on to one fact that as long as the 10 assemblymen do not leave the House, the proceedings will not begin.

Clearly they had made plans to ignore the Speaker as they wanted a new Speaker."
He was referring to his refusal yesterday to convene the sitting unless Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir and six Barisan Nasional state executive councillors left the chambers on the basis that had been suspended by the state rights and privileges committee.

Sivakumar had also asked three BN friendly independent lawmakers to leave the chambers.

Sivakumar added that the refusal of senior civil servants to take their seats showed that there were plans to defy the Speaker.
