Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar said the arrest of journalist Tan Hoon Cheng under the Internal Security Act was made BECAUSE:"... we received information that her life was under threat... and to TALK to her (because) the whole thing was STARTED by HER "
Oops!! So, my dear Malaysians, it was NOT that RACIST Ahmad Ismail who started the whole thing, but the journalist who reported it!! And to make an arrest under ISA in order for the police to TALK to the journalist on her report?
Does Syed Hamid Albar, an overseas-trained lawyer and an UMNO-BN Cabinet Minister, think we Malaysians are a bunch of stupid dumb fools to swallow such nonsensical logic?

UPDATE: Read here Tan Hoon Cheng's personal account of her 18 hours of arrest under ISA
Sin Chew journalist Tan Hoon Cheng was released at 2.30pm today.
Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar has implied that Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng was to be BLAMED for the public furore over the ‘Chinese squatter’ remark.
Syed Hamid Albar said during a press conference:
“She made the first report so we had to get to the bottom of it and we received information that her life was under threat.
The whole thing was started by her, (so) it was best that we talked to her,”
Asked to elaborate, Syed Hamid Albar said Tan’s article had caused “the polemic and fear” thus warranting investigations by the police.
Excerpts of the 18-minute press conference: (reported in Malaysiakini)
Q: Is Ahmad Ismail above the law?
Syed Hamid:
He has been punished so far as the party (ie UMNO, not Government) as concerned. At the same time there is a report against Ahmad Ismail and we are investigating it. I don’t think we treat politicians differently. We have taken action. That politician has been suspended three years by the party. He lose all his position. At the same time there is a report of sedition.
Q. Why arrest the reporter when you can call her up for questioning?
Syed Hamid:
Whatever action that we take, there will be questions asked. The whole thing was started by her, it is best that we talk to her. If she is a threat, she would be brought in under Section 73 for 60 days. She would be held. When we have questioned her and we are satisfied with her answers, we just release her. I don’t think we are being unfair nor have we mistreated her.
Q. Why couldn’t the police just ask her to come in for questioning?
Syed Hamid:
When the police feel it is best to bring the person in under the ISA, they will do so.
That is why it is not an exercise on the part of the minister to hold the person under Section 8 which is two years (detention) straight away. The police feel that they should handle it and avoid any misunderstanding.
Q. Do you as a minister feel that the ISA arrests were justified?
Syed Hamid:
I’m a minister and politician. If I start to interfere, people will say I have a political motive. I cannot interfere with the police.
Police's Reason for Arresting Teresa Kok
According to a notice by Special Branch police, Selangor Govt Senior Exco Member Teresa Kok was arrested under the Internal Security Act yesterday evening for allegedly causing tension and conflict among races.
The notice stated that Kok, 43, had acted in a way which threatened national security, which warranted arrest under Section 73(1) of the ISA.
It added that the Seputeh member of parliament had become a national threat by being involved in "activities which can cause tension and conflict among races and religion". Read here for more
(Note: In the 2008 General Elections, Teresa Kok retained her Parliamentary seat of Seputeh in Kuala Lumpur with a majority of 36,492, the LARGEST majority in any constituency in these elections)
We ask the Special Branch Police and the Home Minister,
Why weren't Ahmad Ismail, Khir Toyo and the editor-in-chief of Utusan Malaysia arrested under ISA for the same reason, " involved in activities causing tension and conflict among races and religion and acted in a way which threatened national security?"
