Hishammuddin Hussein Onn (the one who wave the keris during the UMNO General Assembly) is the current EDUCATION Minister and UMNO Youth Chief.
Najib Abdul Razak is our current Deputy Prime Minister and was the Education Minister (1995-1999).
Hishammuddin and Najib are cousins.
- Education Minister Hishammuddin's son did NOT go through his education leading towards the SPM and then to STPM ( our national education system).
Instead Education Minister Hishammuddin got his son to do 'O' Level. And this September 2008, his son will not be attending our LOCAL University. Instead the Education Minister will be sending his son to study in UK. - Deputy Prime Minister Najib did not send his daughter to our national school for her school education leading towards SPM and STPM. Instead he sent his daughter, Nooryana Najwa, to an INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL so that she can complete her International Baccalaureate programme. The name of the school is the Garden International School. Najib's son, Norashman Razak, also had his education in the Garden International School.
By the way, Garden International School does NOT follow our Malaysian curriculum. It bases its curriculum on the National Curriculum of England. It teaches the English National Curriculum through Key Stages 1 to 4 and Cambridge ‘A’ Level.
Najib's daughter WON'T be attending any of our local University. Najib is sending her daughter to Georgetown University in Washington DC to read politics and international relations.
Are our national schools and local universities not good enough for the children of our Education Minister and Deputy Prime Minister?
What's wrong with our national education system for the children of our own Education Minister to have their education leading towards 'O' Level (which is in English, not Bahasa Malaysia,) instead of towards the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). ?
What kind of message do our Education Minister and Deputy Prime Minister send to Malaysian students, especially Malay students, and their parents when Hishammuddin and Najib themselves decided to let their children bypass our home-grown Malaysian education system?
Or is it, as one reader wondered, that DPM Najib and Education Minister Hishammuddin are simply being patriotic by not allowing their children to benefit government's subsidized education by sending their offsprings to a private school instead of to national schools?
Or is it that both Najib Razak and Hishamuddin Hussein do not have confidence and faith in the Malaysian Education System for which they had been responsible for all these years?
Is our Malaysian Education System that useless thus preventing their offsprings being academically compromised by the already screwed-up education system in Malaysia?
One reader writes:
(Dear DPM Najib and Education Minister Hishammudin),
If the education system is not crap and of quality and standard like what you and your counterparts have mentioned countless times, then why didn’t your kids go through it?
Why didn’t your kids go through SPM, then Matriculation or STPM before gaining admission to University. After all, matriculations and STPM have the potential to produce Quality graduates, right?
How does the current government expect us to have faith in our Malaysian Education System when the DPM and current education Minister did not even put their kids through it?
