They have proven themselves beyond ALL expectations to be politically matured voters. They took out race as an issue for the FIRST time and voted as MALAYSIANS. This is the Malaysia we want see in the next 50 years, in the next 100 years and more. They stood steadfast against the onslaught of the propaganda machine of the Barisan Nasional, led by the government-controlled TV, radio and the mainstream print media. They have voted against ARROGANCE. They told this UMNO-led Government that being "kurang ajar" is NOT part of Malaysian culture, not even part of Malay, Chinese nor Indian culture. They did NOT buy into the racial intimidation of the UMNO-led Government. Their message, "Enough is Enough" cannot be any clearer than the verdict they put in the not-so-secret ballot in this election.
And we say to every Malaysian voter, Malay, Chinese, Indian and others:

But there is still much more work to do in the coming years. The winning politicians in the Opposition Parties must now deliver what they said, and what they had promised.There is much healing to be done and to bring the country together, the different races, the different religions and the different socio-economic strata so that Malaysians face the 21st century as one people.. as Malaysians in every sense of the word.
Parliamentarians and State Assemblymen from the Opposition Parties should take a lesson from the Barisan Nasional.. and that is, they should NOT behave and talk foolishly. Otherwise they will face the full backlash of Malaysians in five years time.
That is, DON'T be an IDIOT.... as shown by most Barisan Nasional politicians."

".... It was Samy Vellu’s final swan song. Samy Vellu, the sole Indian minister for 29 years, has been defeated.
Except for Dr S. Subramaniam , S. Saravanan and K. Devamani, the other MIC candidates were all wiped out in an unprecedented wave of anger, opening up a new era in politics for Indians.
The MIC leadership in shambles. It will take a long time for the mess to be sorted out.
Indian voters form significant numbers in at least 67 parliamentary ( 9 %) and 141 state assembly seats (46%) electorate.
The results across the country indicate they had used their numbers to vote Opposition and helped change the direction of politics in the country.
They were the deciding factor in constituencies where Malay and Chinese votes divided. Indians who traditionally backed the Government made their small numbers count.
Twenty-two Indians (22) contested in 18 parliamentary seats and 53 Indians contested in 40seats. They comprised about 8% of contestants.
MIC fielded nine for Parliament and 19 for the state assemblies. The DAP had seven Indians for Parliament and 17 for state while PKR fielded 19 Indians.
In Parliament and the state assemblies, there will be about 20 Indians from the DAP and PKR and all will be sitting on the opposition bench.
Previously, in the entire country there were only two Indian MPs – Karpal Singh and M. Kulasegaran – holding the fort.
It is going to be a lively Parliament and Opposition Indian MPs are going to fall over each other to voice Indian woes.
The results are a victory for Makkal Shakti, the force unleashed by Hindraf leader P. Uthayakumar on Nov 25, which ballooned into a formidable Indian movement to carry away so many MIC leaders.
Because of the defeat in some states, Indian representation is nil, making it a challenging task for the Barisan Nasional power-sharing formula to work.

"... What a day!
I thank God for he has blessed this country with so many courageous men and women.
And I thank you for voting for the future of my children and yours.
I am indebted to all of you. It is a debt that will be difficult to repay, but I hope what little I have done in this blog will have benefited you in some small way or another.
We move forward now. Hand in hand. Together.
Thank you, Malaysia. Thank you.
"..... My overwhelming emotions breaking out in waves and crying silent tears of joy and gratefulness to the Almighty and for the support of my fellow Malaysians....
It's truly a new dawn for us here in Malaysia who are witnessing our fellow Malaysians finally getting free from political bondage and breaking free from the 5 decades of relentless BN propaganda which has eventually caused us to be able to effect change in the people's mindsets!
We Malaysian Bloggers have taught the BN Cabinet Ministers a valuable lesson haven't we?..."
"...My Country Awake, by Rabindranath TagoreWhere the mind is without fear and the head held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by Thee into ever-widening thought and action;
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
Malaysiakini reports that BN has been denied the 2/3 majority in parliament.
The change has arrived. It is a new dawn. What a time to be alive in Malaysia. Congratulations to all...."
"... We denied BN from their 2/3 majority. The People delivered Selangor, Perak dan Kedah. Pulau Pinang and Kelantan, as promised by the people now belongs to the people. Maybe its a good time to sleep and to wake up to a new Malaysia....
39-6 in Kelantan. 5 states. What more. God is Great.Power of the people. Thank you God. Thank you all. "
"... A funny thing happened at the Kelana Jaya polling station yesterday. As I walked past the BN tent with my family in tow, I jokingly asked the head honcho who happens to be a neighbour of mine,"OK, where's my MONEY?"
O boy, I will never forget the startled look on his face, but he quickly recovered his composure, patted my arm and said reassuringly,"Later, cap'n, later. Please go and vote first".
Anyway, the rakyat has spoken. Not only has the Opposition Barisan Rakyat denied the ruling BN government a two-third majority in parliament but is now set to form the government in 5 key states. Syabas to the people of Malaysia.
I was at the Blog House in Damansara until late last night with fellow bloggers Tony, Haris, Ewoon, Shar101 and others to monitor incoming election results from Malaysiakini and also from other sources at various polling centers in the country.
Each good news was greeted with loud cheering by all present. Someone even brought a cake to celebrate Samy's birthday and departure.
There is hope for all of us yet...."
