Malaysia Takes God’s Name in Vain

From Asia Sentinel Website: Read here for more

On the eve of the Christmas holidays, Malaysia’s authorities mistakenly decide Allah’s name isn’t God’s.

The Malaysian authorities’ refusal to renew the publication of the weekly Catholic newspaper The Herald unless it stops using the word Allah as the word for God in the Malay language is a demonstration of racism and linguistic ignorance, not religious purity.

But what Johari revealed was his ignorance of his own professed religion, of the Arabic language in which the Koran is written, and of the history and culture of Muslims throughout most of the world. God and Allah mean the same in different languages.

If Malaysian Malays are confused about the distinction between Islam and Christianity because they use the same word to describe the one God, clearly there is a lot wrong with the educational system.

But if a minister is so ignorant, how can the rakyat – Malaysia’s citizenry - be expected to know better?

Why should a United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) politician unless for some reason to ramp up Malay prejudice against non-Muslims and reinforce the notion that all Malays are and always will be Muslims?

Quote:

"..ONLY Muslims can use ‘Allah’.

It’s a Muslim word, you see.

It’s from Arabic (language). WE CANNOT let OTHER religions use it because it will confuse people.

We CANNOT allow this use of ‘Allah’ in non-Muslim publications, nobody except Muslims.

The word ‘Allah’ is published by the Catholics. It’s NOT right."

The word ‘Allah’
can only be used in the context of Islam and NOT any OTHER religion."

-Malaysian Deputy Internal Security Minister Johari Baharum.

Photobucket Now, from where did Malaysia's Deputy Internal Security Minister Johari Baharum get this religious stupidity from?

So now, in Malaysia, it would seem the usage of "Allah" by non-Muslims is a security offence, punishable with or without triggering the ISA.

Yes, this UMNO-led Government CAN prevent Malaysian NON-Muslims, through its political power and the brute force of the draconian ISA laws, from using the word "Allah", but certainly NOT to non-Muslims in general.

It is a mark of the lowest form of intellect for a Malaysian political leader to pontificate that the word "Allah" is a monopoly of Muslims.

The perception of the monopoly of Muslims on the Arabic word for "God" might be so in the parochial minds of Malaysian Muslims like the Deputy Internal Security Minister.

And, one might even accept such idiocy would come from extreme right wing tunnel-visioned religious fundamentalist groups of Christians and Muslims alike.

Deputy Minister Johari Baharum can start by legalising the use of the word "Allah" and having the law carved in stone in the Federal Constitution, using UMNO's two-third majority, to entrench the illegality of Malaysian non-Muslims using the word "Allah" in their religious books or in their prayers. Do just that!

The Deputy Internal Security Minister, if he thinks that the use of "Allah" will affect Malaysia's national security, or Malaysia's own version of Islamic laws, should have demanded,

".. ONLY MALAYSIAN NON-MUSLIMS CANNOT USE THE WORD 'ALLAH'. .."
Sometimes it is best for a Cabinet Minister to keep his narrow intellect in silence in some dark corners instead of having his intellectual garbage to stand out in bright sunlight.

Since he has opened the Pandora box on how non-Muslims should relate to Islam, we intend to keep the Pandora box open for people like the Deputy Internal Security Minister to help expand his intellectual capacity on matters of religion, ie Islam and Christianity, in particular.

Let's put this fact upfront:

Arabic is NOT the lingua franca or mother-tongue of Malays or the Malay Muslims in this country.

It is definitely NOT the mother-tongue of Johari Baharum. He must have learned Arabic presumably when he had to recite by rote the Al-Quran and possibly took some lessons in Arabic from some questionable Ustaz or as part of his school or post-secondary education on Islamic studies.

"ONLY Muslims can use ‘Allah’"

Say that to the 14 million (5-6 %) Arabic-speaking Christians in the Arab world !!

To them, the only word they know which we call "God" and Malays call "Tuhan" is "Allah".

Most of the Arab Christians who live in the Middle East are located in the following countries: Lebanon (35-45 % of the population);Palestine (5-10 %);Jordan (6-12 %);
Syria (10 %);Sudan (10 %) ;Egypt (6-12 %) ; and Iraq (3 %).

Arabs are NOT all Muslims and Muslims are NOT all Arabs.

Some Christians who live in the Arab world refuse to be considered as "Arabs". They take pride in their heritage and trace their roots to their ancestors who inhabited the land before the appearance of Islam.

For example, Lebanese Christians take pride in their ancient Phoenician roots.

Egyptian Coptics trace their roots to the ancient Egyptians under the Pharaohs dynasties.

So the Chaldeans and the Assyrians of Iraq who consider themselves to be the original inhabitants and dwellers of present day Iraq.Read here for more

Excerpts from BUILDING BRIDGES by Fouad Accad (Colorado Springs, CO: Navpress), p. 22).

"...And what about the 10 to 12 million Arab Christians today?

They have been calling God ‘Allah’ in their Bibles, hymns, poems, writings, and worship for over nineteen centuries.

What an insult to them when we tell them not to use this word ‘Allah’!

Instead of bridging the distance between Muslims and Christians, we widen the gulf of separation between them and us when we promote such a doctrine.

Those who still insist that it is blasphemy to refer to God as Allah should also consider that Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)’s father was named Abd Allah, ‘God’s servant,’ many years BEFORE his son was born or Islam was founded!

Some Christians unthinkingly say 'Allah is not God.' This is the ultimate blasphemy to Muslims, and furthermore, it is difficult to understand.

Allah is the primary Arabic word for God. It means 'The God.'

There are some minor exceptions. For example, the Bible in some Muslim lands uses a word for God other than Allah (Farsi and Urdu are examples).

But for more than five hundred years BEFORE Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w), the vast majority of Jews and Christians in Arabia called God by the name Allah.

How, then, can we say that Allah is an invalid name for God?

If it is, to whom have these Jews and Christians been praying? ”

The word "Allah" in the Indonesian Christian Bible

Yohanes 1 -Kitab Suci: (Gospel According to John)

1:2 Sejak semula Ia bersama Allah.

1:16 Ia penuh kasih; tiada hentinya, Ia memberkati kita.

1:17 Hukum Tuhan kita terima melalui Musa.

1:21 "Kalau begitu, engkau siapa?" tanya mereka. "Apakah engkau Elia?" "Bukan," jawab Yohanes. "Apakah engkau Sang Nabi?" tanya mereka lagi. "Bukan," jawabnya.

Religious Narrow-mindedness of the UMNO-led Government

The Security Ministry has also allegedly told the publisher of the Catholic "The Herald" to remove the entire Bahasa Malaysia section or the permit will not be renewed when it expires in two weeks.

The Herald, which is published in four languages - English, Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese and Tamil - has a circulation of 12,000.

He said the decision was made based on a report submitted by the publications department of the Internal Security Ministry.

However, when asked why the Herald is being told to remove its Bahasa Malaysia section altogether - rather than demanding the weekly not to use the word ‘Allah’ - Johari was unable to comment.

The use of ‘Allah’ outside of Islam has stirred controversy in Malaysia previously.

Four years ago, the Bible in the Iban language was banned because it translated the word ‘God’ as Allah Taala, which resembles Islam’s name for God.

The ban was, however, lifted after protests from the Christian community.

"... Muslims, like Christians do not worship a person called Allah. They worship a single supreme being which the Arabic language denotes as Allah. The very word Allah derives from the singular nature of the monotheistic deity.

In the Arab world Allah has always been used by Christians (a significant minority) and Jews (a smaller but important minority until the creation of Israel) to denote the one God which the religions share. Ditto in Farsi.

In Indonesia 100 million Muslims have no problem with their Christian brothers using Allah to denote the supreme being in Bahasa Indonesia, the Indonesian version of the Malay language.

So why should a United Malays National Organisation (UMNO)politician unless for some reason to ramp up Malay prejudice against non-Muslims and reinforce the notion that all Malays are and always will be Muslims?

Likewise among the (Roman) Catholics, the word in Latin (lingua franca of the Roman church) for God is Deus and is used without discrimination between Christians Muslims and Jews.

The Johari version of the world displays the same kind of ignorance as found among Christian fundamentalists in the United States and elsewhere who insist on saying that Muslims worship Allah rather than the God (an English word) that the two religions share. An English Koran uses the words “In the name of God the compassionate and merciful,” not “In the name of Allah the compassionate and merciful.”

".... When the Prime Minister came into power, he promised more openness in government. And this supposed openness has been touted by his people as a sign of a maturing democracy. Indeed there was a brief period when things were looking rather hopeful on that front.

The recent fiasco regarding the use of the word Allah by a Catholic newsletter, culminating in the effective ban on the publication, reflects a thinking that is mind numbingly infantile.

There is the false declaration that Allah is a Muslim word to be used only by Muslims.

There was no attempt by the powers that be to answer publicly to the fact that the word is Arabic and means literally The God. “Al” means “the” and “Lah” means “God”.

Furthermore, the Abrahamic religions all have the same root language. This being the case, it is not correct to say that Allah as a word is exclusive to Muslims.

Linguistic quibbles aside, what gets to me is the presumption that Malaysian Muslims will get confused if they were to ever get a hold of this Catholic newsletter and see the word Allah in it.

For one thing, it is not as if this newsletter is on sale openly. It can’t be anyway because there are laws preventing the producers from doing so.

For another thing, I think that a Muslim who may chance upon a copy would probably be able to tell that this is a Christian publication. The references to Jesus being the son of God and that sort of thing would probably give it away. .."

  • "... the (Internal Security) Ministry is actually telling Christians how to call their God in BM. BM is the national language of this country. It belongs to all Malaysians regardless of whether they are Muslim or non-Muslim. The language is not exclusive to any party, race or religion.

I have never heard of any government imposing on a person or a group’s right to call out to their God or being told how to call their God. At the most, a person or group can try to convince the other person/group of how they believe God should or should not be called, but they have absolutely no right to impose it.

The answer to my question above would be that no one has the right to tell me how to address my God because my relationship with God is between me and God. It does not involve the country or the government.

If it is wrong or if God does not like it when I address Him as “Allah” in BM, He can then strike me dead with lightning. I really don’t need the government or anybody else telling me how to address my God if God does not mind it...."

Gutsy GERAKAN Youth Says UMNO and UMNO Youth Incite Racial Sentiments Among Malays

From Malaysiakini: Read here original article for more

GERAKAN Youth Vice-Chief S Paranjothy has accused Umno for inciting racial sentiments among Malays to gain political mileage in a hard-hitting four-page statement entitled ‘Discrimination from Womb to Tomb’.

He singled out Umno Youth chief Hishammuddin Hussien’s keris waving and his deputy Khairy Jamaluddin’s claim that non-Malays would take advantage of a weak Umno leadership, as prime examples of racial posturing.

Such attempts, he said, include taking potshots at other BN component parties which draw their support from non-Malay communities.

He also cited Khairy’s speech at the Umno general assembly last month, during which he blamed newspaper vendors for not wanting to work on Deepavali day. Khairy made a pointed reference to the fact that the sector is predominated by Indian Malaysians.

(Each year, the print media takes a break during the major festivals. This year, Deepavali fell during the week of the Umno general assembly, and there was no publication on the day following the delivery of the presidential address.)

    S Paranjothy said:

They (UMNO) incite racial sentiments among their community in a petty attempt to further their political career.

UMNO leaders are very fond of picking on component parties and use them as their punching bag or stepping-stone to gain popularity in their community.

UMNO is fond of playing up sensitive issues among Malaysians.

Statements and decisions made by UMNO politicians have been (discriminatory) and contain a lot of racial slurs.

So who is playing racial politics in Malaysia?... So who is causing racial disunity?

I have participated in street demonstrations and rallies organised by Barisan Nasional Youth, spearheaded by UMNO Youth, to handover a memorandum... over certain issues that had taken place (abroad) which I believe would not have benefitted Malaysia.

Did BN Youth obtained a permit to hold the rallies or demonstrations? ... Looks like the government is one-sided when it came to the issuance of permits for public gatherings.

BN started this culture of street demonstrations and now others have emulated it.

“(Malaysian Indians) are treated as fourth-class citizens.

Where the Indians predominate over their fellow Malaysians is mostly in prison, violent crimes, gangsterism, suicide and social ills. Government policies have failed to improve (their situation).”

He warned that national unity would be elusive as long as political parties and politicians continue their communal approach towards politics.

He stressed that the 14 BN component parties must consolidate into a single party in order to “end racial manipulation in politics”.

Commenting on the Nov 25 Hindraf rally,, Paranjothy said the 30,000 Indians took part to express their “frustrations and anger” because the community has been “marginalised, oppressed and ignored”.

Paranjothy said Indians form the most neglected group in economic terms, as shown by key performance indicators such as tertiary education.

On the government’s hardline stance against public demonstrations, Paranjothy said the government has practised double-standards in the issuance of police permits.

    4. ..In fact, it is no exaggeration to say that religious polarization is most serious in the past four years under Abdullah as Prime Minister as compared to the four former Prime Ministers – Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Razak, Tun Hussein Onn and Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

It is most unfortunate that in recent years, there have been mounting instances of disrespect and insensitivity of those in power and authority for the rights and sensitivities of non-Muslim Malaysians.

The most serious example were the recent triple insensitivities during this year's Deepavali – the Festival of Light celebrated by Hindus.

Firstly, there was the insensitive and sacrilegious demolition of the 40-year-old Sri Maha Mariaman Temple in Kampung Rimba Jaya in Shah Alam when Deepavali was just a week away.

This was followed by the disrespect and insensitivity when the Umno General Assembly was held on Deepavali – imagine the protest and outrage if the MCA or MIC had held their general assemblies during the Hari Raya holidays.

But there was a third strike – when Umno Deputy Youth Leader and the Prime Minister's son-in-law, Khairy Jamaluddin went on a rampage against the Indian community at the Umno General Assembly, telecast on RTM, blaming the Indian news vendors for taking a national press holiday during Deepavali and blacking Abdullah's speech as Umno President the next day...Read

" ... 5 Hindraf leaders have been detained under the ISA, with 2-year detention orders under s.8 having been signed by the Prime Minister.

To me, when I look at the ISA, I see a choice between what is easy, and what is right.

There's no denying that the ISA is the EASY choice.
      - It is easy to just trust that the government knows best; that they know what they are doing.

-It is easy to not have to bring out evidence and sensitive inteligence into open court, and to ask the people to trust that the evidence exists.

      - It is easy to look at these 'troublemakers', and think, at least we have a superweapon that can make sure they can't ever hurt anyone, even though it's not actually proven beyond reasonable doubt that they will do so.

      - It is easy to know that your government can strike pre-emptively at people, and keep you safe.

      - It is easy to see all those people arrested under the ISA as 'them'; to never think that you might ever agree with what they say or do; to think that tomorrow, it could ever be you, or any of your loved ones.
      So very easy.

But does that make it RIGHT ? I don't believe so.

And the simplest reason for this is one of natural justice - how can you punish a person without having proved her crime, and without giving her the chance to disprove the allegations made against her? This is natural justice, for the simple reason that we do it all the time.

Justice demands that if it is disputed by the alleged wrongdoer, then it must be proven, and the alleged wrongdoer must be given a chance to defend herself. And all this takes place under the watchful eye of a neutral arbiter.

None of this happens under the ISA.
      - The government does not have to prove its case - no evidence needs to be tendered in a court of law. The alleged wrongdoer has no chance of defence - she gets picked up, and processed immediately.

      - As for the neutral arbiter? The ISA detainee has not been convicted in a court of law, by the judgment of an free and independent judge - she has been sentenced by the act of a single signature.

      - And ever since the government restricted further the jurisdiction of the courts to examine the grounds of detention, even habeas corpus will not avail her.
We also need to remember that the ISA has been a cover for torture in the past. We only need to look at the recent judgment in the case of Abdul Malik Husin to see judicial condemnation of the torture inflicted on him during the course of his ISA detention.

It happens, we cannot deny it, and it is a very powerful reason to do away with the ISA. Secrecy breeds torture. Just read the judgment, and understand the depth of suffering that was inflicted on En. Abdul Malik.

The record of ISA usage in Malaysia includes a whole lot of opposition leaders and NGO activists and political dissenters, not to mention passport forgerers - all of whom aren't exactly the next Al-Qaeda or Tamil Tiger bomber, in my humble opinion.

But yes, at least half of the current detainees are suspected KMM or JI members. Please bear in mind, however, that links with Tamil Tigers aside, Hindraf does not strike me as a terrorist threat.

Have we so easily forgotten the Prophet's advice: better to let a thousand guilty men go free than to punish one innocent? That is the balance of justice in Islam.

What we should be doing is countering the rhetoric with a genuine desire to help our Malaysian Indian brothers, and framing this as part of a drive to help all Malaysians who still live in poverty and deprivation.

Instead of thinking that people are automatically going to riot the more they listen to Hindraf, we should be saying: we should not resort to violence, but we must do all we can to help each other. Yes, it's a whole lot harder than just shutting them up with the ISA. But which is easy, and which is right?

I ask you to please think about the question of justice.... And if you believe, as I do, that the ISA completely offends against that natural justice, then I would ask you to at least join all the other Malaysians who now say to our government: we choose what is right, over what is easy; and if you choose what is easy, over what is right, then let not this injustice be done in our name. 6. "...Looking at the developments in Malaysia of late, one might come to the conclusion that that is precisely the sort of soft authoritarianism that has come to roost. Over the past month the capital of Kuala Lumpur witnessed at least two mammoth demonstrations in a country where the national pastime seems to be shopping.

As expected, the Malaysian Government's reaction was to demonise the demonstrators, block the roads, call in the riot police and have the demonstrators arrested, chased and tear-gassed in the streets of the capital.

Its difficult for any leader to listen to the people when he is gassing them at the same time. Its equally difficult for there to be any meaningful dialogue between the state and the population when the latter are demonised as anarchists, un-patriotic trouble-makers, foreign agents, etc as soon as they show the slightest signs of protest.

Prime Minister Badawi had appealed to the Malaysian public to give him time, feedback and support. The demonstration of frustration and the demand for reform happen to be precisely the sort of feedback he needs at the moment, one could argue.

Yet Badawi’s reaction on the eve of the Bersih demonstration was to threaten the demonstrators with arrest and to state bluntly that he will not be challenged.

Is this the REAL face of the benevolent administration that came to the power on the promise that the leader would listen to the Malaysian public, and which asked Malaysians to ‘work with me, and not for me’? Read here for more

AUSTRALIA: Newly Elected Prime Minister Kevin Rudd at Bali Kyoto Conference Read here for more and here

Kevin Rudd strode the world stage with ease, a product of his background in the diplomatic service.

He instinctively understands the demands of protocol -- a stark contrast with John Howard who, on his first trips overseas, resembled something of a broken toy soldier on an unfamiliar parade ground.

Rudd's easy demeanour was helped immeasurably by the greeting the Australian team received in Bali. The 10,000 delegates embraced Rudd and his ministers with genuine warmth.

"It was like we were all rock stars," one told me.

And watching wave after wave of UN officials wanting to shake their hands, you could believe it.

None of the ministers put a foot wrong. Treasurer Wayne Swan built on the increasingly close work Australian Treasury officials have been doing in recent times with their Indonesian counterparts.

When it came time for the group finance ministers photo, the hosts placed Swan on the right hand of Indonesian President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyno.

World Bank president and former US Under-Secretary of State, Bob Zoellick, was pushed to one side -- a measure of how far Washington was on the outer over its continued refusal to sign up to Kyoto.

Stephen Smith was assured and looks like he'll fit the surprise appointment as Australian Foreign Minister like a glove.

Climate Change Minister (Malaysian born) Penny Wong won high praise from Green groups, not for bending to their will, but for her tough-minded focus and clear articulation of Australia's position.

Despite being in the job less than a fortnight, she was the country's chief negotiator and acted like it.

Environment Minister Peter Garrett (of former rock band 'Midnight Oil), despite being muzzled in favour of Wong, enjoyed himself immensely. Whatever you may have thought of his troubled election campaign, given his Green activist past, there was simply no naysaying Garrett's impact in Bali. His mere presence was a statement about the changed direction of Australian policy.

While Rudd was suitably statesmanlike in his formal appearances, elsewhere we got a glimpse of what is likely to be a less-buttoned-down prime ministership than that of John Howard.

"Please, call me Kevin," was his greeting.

From Australia's perspective the Bali meeting was a conspicuous success.

New PM Kevin Rudd has repositioned Australia by signalling Kyoto Protocol ratification.

Rudd sent the message that he would not be intimidated by European-led crusades that are more about politics than solving climate change.

Rudd and his Climate Change Minister Penny Wong made an excellent start in having Australia operate as a diplomatic bridge builder between developed and developing nations.

Penny Wong was asked to chair the pivotal working group that devised the final text, a task she accepted on the proviso that there was a co-chair from the developing world (Argentina).

REALITY CHECK on "Damai Malaysia" Organisation - Claiming to Represent the Silent MAJORITY:

Read here for more on Marina Mahathir's Blog, Rocky's Bru Blog and Screenshots

        Quote:
It is mischevious and highly dangerous to the social fabric of Malaysia for Malaysian Indian Muslims, (or any other non-ethnic Malays,) to have passage into UMNO by presenting themselves to ethnic Malays as " fellow Malays", and thereby gain political influence as paid-up members of UMNO, to be then fully engaged in DIVISIVE RACIAL politics against other races.

Background:(Read here for more from Bernama)

Representatives of Damai Malaysia – an umbrella body comprising 395 non-governmental organisations – handed over to Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi yesterday a memorandum criticising the illegal street rallies. The group of about 20 people led by Damai chairman Mohd Saiful Adil Mohd Daud was not allowed to enter the Royal Malaysian Air Force Subang airbase but after waiting for the airbase authority to get back to them, they were finally allowed to go in.

The memorandum said, "As can be seen from today’s memorandum, the PEOPLE who remained SILENT have now stood up to make their stand. They want peace to be maintained.."

Damai (claims to) represent 1.5 million members and its representatives include those from 75 Chinese-based and 20 Indian groups and associations. They condemned individuals and groups who used lies and slander against the country and asked for foreign intervention in Malaysia’s internal affairs.

DAMAI Advisor and Bukit Bintang MCA chief Senator Datuk Dr Lee Chong Meng said the Bersih and Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) illegal demonstrations last month had caused tourists to cancel trips to Malaysia.

"...Damai Malaysia, a coalition of 395 non-governmental organizations has been initiated by UMNO and MCA politicians in Kuala Lumpur. The Malaysian Chinese Association (which is the second largest ruling party in the coalition) has a candidate in Bukit Bintang which is the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Lee Chung Meng was one of the key people behind this group.

It’s mainly a coalition of mostly pro-government groups and they held a forum to denounce street demonstrations without specifically mentioning names, but mostly likely in response to Hindraf as well as the Bersih coalition gathering on November 10th. I don’t see this as a major group.

So, who is Damai Malaysia, really? And for whom do they speak? The answer to that comes via two other online sources that Walski came across. The first, via the Malay-centric KLpos.com website, provides anecdotal evidence as to who is really behind the coalition. The following is an excerpt:

" ...the number given ( 03-40439948 ) connected to the Office of the Peninsular Malay Students Coalition (better known as GPMS), located in Sentul Raya, KL, but its operator answered the call as 'Damai Malaysia' "(source: KLpos.com)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket GPMS's current president is Datuk Reezal Merican Naina Merican.

He also happens to be the Political Secretary to Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Prime Minister of Malaysia.

        Nice coincidence, eh?

Who is Reezal Merican Naina Merican? Read here for more

Reezal Merican Naina Merican is an Indian Muslim from Penang ( i.e. MAMAK) who had managed to bring himself to the attention of Abdullah Badawi three years before Khairy ever showed his face in the Jalan Bellamy house.

Reezal Merican (often called ‘Ustaz Reezal’) is an IIUM graduate with a penchant for high politics and beautiful women artistes. He was sued for divorce by his second wife, actress Sharifah Norhaslinda.

Reezal Merican is a member of the Kepala Batas Umno division in Penang headed by Abdullah. Read here for more

When Abdullah Badawi ascended that high office, Reezal Merican thought that his time had come. His years of being the ‘lightning rod’ in IIUM -- attracting the ire of his fellow students who were mostly supporters of Anwar Ibrahim -- would finally pay off when Abdullah recognises his loyalty and perseverance in defending his image.

Reezal had hoped that Abdullah would reward him with a suitably high post in government. In November 2003, Reezal was made Political Secretary to the First Finance Minister. It was not as important as being Political Secretary to the Prime Minister himself, but as the two posts were conjoined in the same person, Reezal did not complain too much.

Khairy did not take this lying down though. He shot off another official memo to Abdullah, informing him that the IIUM graduate did not deserve the post as he added no value to the effort to show Abdullah’s administration as being a professional team of bright young things.

Khairy also accused Reezal of involvement with several young recording artists and newsreaders. The letter found itself on Abdullah’s desk, but not before chief private secretary Dato’ Thajudeen Abdul Wahab (no friend of Khairy’s) had made a copy and given it to Reezal.

Seething with anger, Reezal swore to eliminate Khairy from the Abdullah circle.
That promise was made in the white heat of anger.

Eventually, Reezal realised that it was better to be seen to support Khairy, at least for the time being. He took a step back and allowed Khairy to go for the UMNO Youth Vice-Chief post while he himself contested as an ordinary EXCO member, though he had a longer relationship with the UMNO Youth delegates.

On 15 June 2006, Reezal Merican Naina Merican wrote a letter to Datuk Zamani Abdul Ghani, the Deputy Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia about an amount of USD50 billion required by Malaysia to fund its national development.

Now, what authority does Reezal Merican Naina Merican have in instructing the Deputy Governor of Bank Negara? Reezal Merican is one of the ‘Tingkat Empat’ boys and the Political Secretary to the Finance Minister, who by chance also happens to be Malaysia’s Prime Minister.

Reezal Merican is not there because of his abilities but because Khairy Jamaluddin, the Prime Minister’s son-in-law, wants to keep an eye on things and Reezal Merican plays the role of Khairy’s eyes and ears.

Reezal Merican’s job is not only to report everything to Khairy and to be the minder for the Finance Minister II and keep him under control, but also to ensure that Khairy gets to read all reports and letters before it falls onto the desk of the Finance Minister II.

By the time any documents reach the table of the Finance Minister II, it would already have instructions etched on them about which project and which contract is to be awarded to which company. In short, the jobs are apportioned out even before the Finance Minister II gets to see the papers. Read here for more

Identity Crisis of Indian Muslims like Reezal Merican Naina Merican

Something is very wrong when we have traitors in the (Malaysian Indian) community. Read here for more.

The Indian community consists of various ethnic groups with their roots going back to India. People from South India are the Tamils, Telugus, Malayalees, and those from North India are the Sikhs, Gujarathis, Bengalis and others.

In this group there also religious groups like Indian Muslims both from South and North India.

Religion can NEVER change your roots.

Indians in Malaysia do not have an identity problem.
(But) this identity problem is evident with the Indian Muslims.

These Indian Muslims are bent on CHANGING THEIR RACE.

This is impossible. I may imitate a white man in his talk, mannerism, food, clothing and many others but I cannot be a white man, not even a “celup” white man.

        A reader in
Malaysiakini categorised Indian Muslims into three groups consisting of:

        • Indian Muslim converts
        • Malays with Indian ancestry
        • Indian-Muslim descendants of immigrants

It is evident that the bulk of the Indian Muslims in this country come from the Indian-Muslim descendents of immigrants.

Generally, this group is referred to in Tamil as “thulukar” or “thulukan”. This is a misnomer, the origin being “thrukkan” or a mussalman from Turkey. Mamak is the Malay version.

        They include:

1.President of the Federation of Peninsular Malay Students, Datuk Reezal Merican Naina Merican

        2. President of the Indian Muslim Congress Malaysia (KIMA) Syed Ibrahim Kadir

The names Merican, Naina and Kader are very clear that these two chaps refer to the “thrukkans” .

Other prominent Indian Muslims/"mamaks" who became "Malays" and gained political influence in UMNO are:
        • Information Minister Zainuddin Maidin
        • Minister for Women, Family and Community Development, Shahrizat Abdul Jalil
        • Second Finance Minister Nor Yakcop
        • Subahan Kamal
        • Datuk Abdul Azeez Rahim
        • Dr. Zamri

The Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (Kimma) decided that it will affiliate itself with Umno, after having failed to get admitted into the Barisan Nasional coalition over the last 28 years. Its president, Amir Amsaa Alla Pitchay, said a memorandum on the matter would be forwarded to Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Radzi Sheikh Ahmad .

Amir Amsaa said that since Kimma was formed in 1976, the party, which represented 80,000 Indian Muslims in the country, had been a staunch supporter of the BN government led by Umno.

Asked why Kimma wanted to affiliate with UMNO and not the MIC or other Indian parties, its deputy president Kamal Batcha said: 'The issue here is one of religion.'..."

"...The Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (Kimma) passed a motion seeking the Government to give Malay status to Indian Muslims born in the country.

In the eight-point motion, passed at its 30th annual general meeting, Kimma cited provisions in the Federal Constitution, which stated that a Muslim who could speak Bahasa Malaysia and practise the Malay culture was regarded a Malay.

The contents of the motion, among others, stated: “The Indian Muslims adopt the three elements but still cannot get the Malay status. If there is a problem in doing so, at least give the bumiputra status as is being done for the Portuguese”.

The motion was handed to the Prime Minister's political secretary Datuk Othman Desa who opened the meeting.

Kimma is also asking for a special quota for the Indian Muslims in the allocation of low-cost houses, places in public institutions of higher learning, scholarships and employment opportunities. It also wants two of its members to be appointed as senators.

On the political side, the congress also passed a motion to apply to become a member of the Barisan Nasional coalition and would gladly accept to become a coalition party in Umno.

Kimma advisor Thasleem Mohd Ibrahim said that although the Indian Muslims could be Umno members, many were not keen because they wanted to maintain their culture and mother tongue.

He said the Indian Muslims played an important role in the setting up of MIC but left the party when the religious element seeped in.

He added that there was a great difference in the historical background of the Indian Muslims and the Indians who came to work as labourers despite them speaking Tamil and were from Tamil Nadu in India....."

".... The mastermind behind DAMAI MALAYSIA is Mamak Rezal Merican Naina Merican of GPMS. Their job is to stir the Malays into a feeding frenzy like what Datuk Harun Idris did on 13 May 1969. Unfortunately the effort failed.

The Malays today are not like the Malays of 1969 and it is not so easy to incite them into an anti-non-Malay frenzy like how they did on 13 May 1969. Even the rumours they spread and the SMSess they circulated did not work.

And the so-called PEKIDA rally in Kampong Baru on Sunday, 16 December 2007, the supposedly prelude to May 13 II, did not happen as planned. Nobody turned up except for the truckloads of riot police and Special Branch officers who patrolled a deserted street. It reminds me of how they cordoned an empty Dataran Merdeka on 10 November 2007.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket To further impress Malaysians that race riots are imminent they got this chap called Mohd Saiful Adil Daud to form DAMAI MALAYSIA, supposedly an amalgamation of 395 Malay NGOs with a combined membership of 1.5 million Malays.

That is the biggest crap I have ever heard.

You would be hard-pressed to find 39 Malay NGOs, let alone 395. And even then some of these so-called NGOs have less than a dozen members. Why did they not list down the names of these 395 Malay NGOs? They couldn’t because these NGOs do not exist. And certainly these 1.5 million members do not exist either.

Mohd Saiful Adil Daud is actually the runner of a well-known Malay gangster called Drs Suleiman a.k.a. Man Brandy.

Man Brandy used to sell ganja around the Kampong Baru mosque area in the days before May 13. He then escaped to Indonesia when the police hunted him down for murder and that was where be bought his very impressive ‘Drs’ title. Later he came back to Malaysia. He won the Titiwangsa Parliament seat and was made a Deputy Minister of Health.

Umno says that HINDRAF is a threat to national security. Umno says that HINDRAF is anti-Malay and anti-Islam. Umno says that HINDRAF plans to organise an anti-Malay rally in Kampong Baru. Some of the HINDRAF people did in fact march through Kampong Baru on 25 November 2007. And the police opened fire on them and sent them running. Then the Malays in Kampong Baru opened the doors to their homes and invited the HINDRAF people in to take shelter from the police.

There was no Indian-Malay tension that day on 25 November 2007. The Malay police opened fire on the HINDRAF marchers and the Malays in Kampong Baru gave the Indians shelter.

The so-called Indian-Malay racial tension is in the minds of the Umno people. And Umno is spreading rumours and circulating SMSess to give the impression that racial tensions are increasing and that there is a danger race riots will break out...."

        Reezal Merican Naina Merican

Apa salahnya?

        Abdul Azeez bin Rahim

Apa pula pemikirannya?
